About Terrapin Guitars

Terrapin Guitars was created by the founder John Paul Polk in 2001. John had always tinkered with his own guitars (some are still in pieces at the shop waiting to be finished) and wanted to offer graphic pickguards to others. He soon realized there is a niche for customizing pickguard for guitar players. The business grew and expanded to include more and more material options, more pickup options and other customization. With the help of Mary Newell they formed the company Terrapin Guitars. The business was originally operated out of their house and back building till it grew out of the space.

On May 5th, 2013 Terrapin Guitars creative inspiration and founder John Polk lost his 2 year battle with cancer. His wife, best friend and business partner Mary Newell is continuing the business in his vision and inspiration as we shape the future of Terrapin Guitars.
